A Hertfordshire schoolgirl has become a Karate World Champion after a tough competition.
Rebecca Cercelea, 11, from Ware, competed against nearly 1,000 participants from countries including Australia, the USA, and New Zealand.
The GKR Karate World Cup Championship took place in Telford from July 24 to 26.
Rebecca fought her way to a gold medal in kumite (sparring) and secured a silver in team kumite.
This triumph follows her previous success in international competitions, where she won a bronze medal representing the UK at a Taekwondo contest in Belgium earlier this year.

Continuing her winning streak, a week after the World Championship, Rebecca clinched gold in the individual poomsae event and a silver in the kyorugi (sparring) event at a regional Kixstar Open Taekwondo competition.
With eyes set on representing the UK in Taekwondo at the Olympics, Rebecca is now gearing up for the Inter Regional Poomsae Championship later this year.
Success in this event could open doors for her to join the National Elite Squad.
Rebecca, who will begin Year 7 at Chauncy School in Ware in September, continues to demonstrate her talent and versatility in martial arts.
