A historic moment unfolded at Old Owens Cricket Club, as the club's first-ever all-girls team took to the field.
On Sunday, July 19, 2026, the team made up of girls as young as five, played against Hertford, marking a significant day in the club's 102-year history.
The match was part of Alan Hunter's President's Day celebrations and was held at the club's ground at Coopers Lane.

In their turn on the field, they managed to restrict Hertford to 241-6.
The match ball was sponsored by LB Tyler Landscapes Ltd.
The club expressed their pride and joy over the success of the match, which was more about the occasion than the result.
An army of supporters, including coaches, parents, and the club president, were present to witness the historic event.
The club is now looking forward to seeing more girls' cricket matches and hopes to eventually have league teams of their own.

The head coach, Chris Palmer, is ready to welcome girls of all abilities, with winter nets starting in November.
The club added: "Who will be the first Old Owens girl to play for Hertfordshire? For the full county side? For England?
