Potters Bar Bowls Club scored an outright win in the annual Nethercott Cup game played between the Bar, North Mymms BC and Harperbury BC, by winning on all  four rinks.

The game, sponsored annually by Chas A Nethercott and Son Ltd, saw directors Charlotte and Victoria watch the games throughout the afternoon

Chas Nethercott, former managing director, presented the trophy and shield to the Potters Bar Captain, Ron McCaig.

Also in a busy week at the club, both the ladies and the men were representing their club in three county semi final matches. Penney Billington lost a hard fought game in the Ladies Unbadged Singles game and together with Jean Scott and Gill Marshall Penney’s Triples team were defeated by a strong Royston BC team.

The third team facing a county semi final match was the Men’s Fours, with Dave Sparrow, Paul Stevens, Brian Vince and Colin Malone. The four established an early lead against an experienced team from Baldock BC. However, after 13 ends, with the score standing at 21 - 3, Baldock conceded.

Potters Bar will now go on to the county finals at Bishops Stortford and then to Leamington Spa for the National Finals in August.
