Excellent sailing conditions brought out the biggest fleet for a while at Welwyn Garden City Sailing Club.

The first pursuit race saw the slowest boat marooned halfway up the lake in a hole of no wind.

They were overtaken by Charles Adams, a later starter who held on to the lead well into the race.

He was finally hauled in by Annette Walter and Angelo Hansen who took first and second.

Alan Campbell and David Lambert came through close to the end to take third and fourth.

In the second race the late starters quickly progressed through most of the fleet but only Campbell overtook Walter and Hansen to take the victory.

Lambert was again fourth with Patrick Rohart fifth.

Further down the fleet, three boats turned round the last mark together.

Adams was overtaken by Mike Dilks and the double-hander crewed by Eweleen Hoffman and Mik Wolanski, but he recovered to regain fifth place before the final hooter sounded.
