One major half, one major marathon and three ultras held the attention of Garden City Runners in their latest races.

The London Landmarks Half Marathon saw Miles Hubbard claim a PB of two hours 11 minutes 16 seconds while Tracy Behr, Katie Coates and Sharon Reynolds were also involved.

A field of 13,000 took part in the Brighton Marathon with GCR represented by Colin Grace (4:14:04), Steve Mowles (4:32:51), Michael Scutt (4:57:26) and Thippi Rashleigh (5:14:34).

Gerard Macdonald was in the wheelchair race, finishing in 5:57, while wife and GCR chairwoman Jane Molloy completed the 10k in 1:17.

Kath Evans was at the Vale of Glamorgan Coastal Ultra, a 32.5-mile run along muddy clifftops and around Barry Island.

She said: "We ran through 19 hidden and often secluded rugged bays, seeing dramatic cliffs, amazing rock formations, and rolling countryside with blossoming sparkling bluebells and pretty, cheerful yellow primroses."

An out and back course at the Star Man event saw Paul Watts run 50k in tough conditions, finishing in 7:29:38.

Starting right on the doorstep, the Camino Lea Valley 50km Ultra completed the set with Spencer White the GCR entrant in what was his first ultra.

The run started at Gosling Sports Park, went across to Hertford and then down to the Olympic Park via the Lea Valley canal route.

He finished in 4:49, beating his target time of five hours.

A couple tackled the Tewinbury 10K Trail Race, Nigel Cavill the first of them to finish and 19th overall in 48:41.

The evergreen Dave Edwards also finished a highly commendable 53rd out of the field of 170 in 54:51.

The club's latest 10-week beginners and returners course had the now traditional graduation ceremony at Panshanger Parkrun.

Supervised by Tendy St. Francis, and aided and abetted by Charlotte Jones, the latest cohort included Che Cherito, Laura Stephen, Penelope Hitch, Franchesa Dipola, Lee Ann Stephenson, Sarah Stephenson and Beth Dean.

Fellow graduates were Kevin Back, Dean Cartwright, Robin Cartwright, Michelle Goodheart, Ariana Oliver, Ran Takhar and Philip Collins.

A total of 116 GCRs took on parkruns at the weekend with Jacqui McCallum running in the snow at Tokoinranta, Helsinki, and Kyle Kean even further afield, finishing 16th at Tsurumi Ryokuchi in Osaka.

At Panshanger Adam Wadley was third, Chris Eland ninth and Martin Mitchell 10th while Eleanor Sage got a PB of 22:42.

There were PBs at Stevenage too, Michael Germany managing 21:30 and Clare Wildey clocking 24:32 while Jamie Rose was sixth.

Rob Casserley was ninth at Gladstone Park in 19:31, while Lucy Iles and Tom Wackett added to the PBs at Alice Holt and Storeys Field.

They finished in 25:05 and 20:58.

Paul Guy meanwhile was the winner at Wynyard Woodland in Stockton-on-Tees.
