Welwyn Garden City put their two defeats in 2024 behind them as they got back to winning ways at Kempston Rovers.

They fell behind in two minutes to a Gabriel Ward but Bradley Wadkins equalised eight minutes later and Gucci Soulya-Osekanongo won it 10 minutes into the second half.

They did have a late penalty saved but WGC won 2-1 to move 12th in Southern League Division One Central, six points behind the play-offs and with games in hand.

Welwyn Pegasus secured a hard-fought 3-2 home win over Cranfield United in Division Three of the Beds & Herts Women's League.

The visitors had the better opening half and created the first chance, well-saved by Welwyn goalkeeper Sophie Huckle.

Lizzie Palmer was making good runs for Pegasus but United still had the edge and scored after Huckle had stopped an initial free-kick.

The second half though was a different story and Pegasus were a different team.

From the whistle, Ellie Whitfield sent a great ball down the wing for Abigail Rowark and her whipped cross was met by Palmer, only for the Cranfield keeper to make the save.

It was a temporary reprieve though and Pegasus soon levelled, a corner falling to Emma Bowers in the box and she rifled it home.

Noe on top, Pegasus got their second when a lofted ball by Chloe Parker-Fitzgerald left Palmer with the straightforward job of sliding it past the keeper.

And two become three moments later with an almost identical goal, Palmer passing to Rowark this time.

Cranfield did get one back with 15 minutes to go but Pegasus hit the post as they finished the stronger.

AFC Welwyn moved seven points clear at the top of Spartan South Midlands League Division Two with a 6-1 home win against MK College.

Cuffley Seniors are fourth after drawing 3-3 away to Baldock Town Res while Lemsford moved a little further away from the bottom three after a 3-2 win against Cockfosters Res.
