A young snooker star from Stevenage is celebrating after winning his first trophy on the Cuestars junior circuit.

Jamie Hogg, 14, was 1-0 down against William Hurley in the final of the sixth leg of the Under-21 Silver Tour, but fought back to win 2-1.

The match, held at Frames Sports Bar in Coulsdon, lasted until almost 10pm.

Jamie, who is based at Frank's Pool Snooker Bar in Hatfield, told Cuestars: "It's been a long day but you just have to carry on and do your best.

"I feel pretty good. I think I played all right throughout the day.

"No big breaks but it just shows you it's not all about breaks at the end of the day, it's about scrapping it out and winning the frames."

Jamie has two coaches - Don Watson, who focuses on his techniques and tactics, and Andy Barrett, who helps with the mental part of the game.

To win the latest leg of the tour, he had to quality from his round-robin group - coming second - before making it through knockout matches from the quarter-final to the final.

The seventh leg of the Cuestars Under-21 Silver Tour will be held at Woking Snooker Centre on Sunday, February 18.
