Potters Bar Town manager Max Mitchell hailed his side's performance as they crushed Hashtag United - and admitted he felt the result has been on the cards for a few weeks.

Two goals each from Ore Bello and Darnell Goather-Braithwaite and one for Ryan Hervel gave the Scholars an emphatic 5-0 home win in the Isthmian League Premier Division.

And the Bar boss was more than happy with their night's work.

He said: "To go and score five at home in front of the fans, off a disappointing result at Billericay [is great].

"And it wasn't a lack of effort [in Essex]. It was scenarios within the game which we had to improve.

"We did that.

"For a period now, we've showed real continuity within our performances and I felt that if we got a game where we started and continued our aggression and being on the front foot, there was always going to be a team we were going to hit for a few goals.

"I see everything as a learning opportunity but I believe in the culture that we're setting and it does take time for a complete rebuild.

"A higher level of performance for me is getting three points, and we've started to show that on a regular basis of late.

"We've played against a good side there and they have had an excellent record.

"They’ve also got the bulk of a group that have been together a long time and have over 50 or over 100 appearances.

"We need to get there as a club and as a playing group and we will get there with this group.

"The nucleus of the side is growing, the culture is improving and they thoroughly deserve that result."

Potters Bar move up a place with the win and have now lost just two out of the last 15 league matches.

It means the six straight losses at the start of the campaign have largely been pushed to the dark recesses of the mind, and the club are now looking up the table rather than down.

And there is more to come.

Mitchell said: "Scoring those goals massively helps to bring the goal difference down, that’s something that we’ve looked at and wanted to improve.

"And the areas where we've scored tonight was something that we looked at in training last week.

"We looked at the breakdown of where we were conceding, where we were scoring goals from and we wanted to make a few adjustments and a few improvements.

"I can't ask for a better reply than what I got."
