European capitals was the theme for Garden City Runners this week.

Ethiopian Tigist Assefa wasn't the only one in record breaking mood at the Berlin Marathon as Chris Jones took almost two minutes off his PB to finish in two hours 45 minutes 49 seconds.

He said: "This included a big negative split so I’m really happy."

Back on British soil, there was a good turnout from team GCR among the near 15,000 at the London 10K.

Starting on The Mall before returning via Cheapside and a number of landmarks to finish in front of Buckingham Palace,

Jo Grant and Louise Beale were among those who loved the route.

Parkrun tourism is still trending but Chris Eland and Adam Wadley chose to stay at home, finishing seventh and ninth at Panshanger.

Down in Southampton, GCR men’s captain James Huish put in an excellent run to finish sixth in 17:20 while Bruce Judge finished fourth at Castle Park in 19:13.

Paul Guy was fifth at Jersey Farm in 19:37.

Congratulations went to Thippi Rashleigh, who ran a PB of 27:50 at Felixstowe.

She said: "I’m very happy as it was a last-minute surprise trip for my birthday and I didn’t realise I would be staying next to the parkrun."
