Potters Bar's very own motor racing club held their own event with great success.

Green Belt Motor Club hosted the Tams Packaging Summer North Weald Sprint around the 1.1-mile course on the former World War II airfield.

The win went to Stephen Laing from the Peterborough Motor Club. Driving his 1998cc black and orange Caterham 7 he clocked a best time of one min 7.7 secs.

The time came on the second of his three timed runs.

Another award winner was Green Belt president Richard Warne from Hertford.

He was in his Car Spares Cheshunt and Comer Oils-sponsored Ford Escort Mk2 with his best time a 1:12.4, good enough for him to win the class for 1400cc to 2000cc rally cars.

Another Green Belt member who competed in this fiercely contested class, also in a Ford Escort, was Mark Goddard.

His best time of 1:17.5 put him third.

Further down the 44-car field, in 27th place overall, Harlow resident and fellow Green Belter Roger Keningale took his Alpha Romeo 145 to fourth in the class for 1600cc to 2000cc road cars.
