For a club who have played in championship grand finals, it is not a stretch to say Welwyn Garden City's next game in the Herts Cricket League is their biggest in 10 years.
They go to Old Owens, the side directly above them in the Premiership table, knowing that anything but a win will all but send WGC down.
They should have gone into it much closer after snatching defeat from the jaws of victory against Totteridge Millhillians at Digswell Park.
It once again showed the frailties that have hampered Welwyn this season, the main one being their inability to score enough runs.
And they only have themselves to blame after their bowlers dismissed the visitors for a below-par 172.
Totteridge had actually got off to a good start with 32-0 after eight overs but it was no surprise when Connor Emerton got one to cut back and remove Ben Howgego.
Two overs later Emerton removed Ned Eckersley for 15, caught behind by keeper Tim Mottershead.
Dan Orchard then had William O’Donnell caught by Alex Chalker for six and bowled Simon Webster for 11.
And the wickets kept coming as Totteridge went from 63-4 to 85-7.
There was frustration from WGC that Totteridge were able to double their score with their last three wickets but the target was eminently reachable.
Jack Clayton finished with the best figures with 3-39 but Emerton (3-64), Dan Roomans (2-26) and Orchard (2-38) were just as good with controlled and accurate spells.
The quick finish to that innings gave Welwyn 74 overs to chase down the modest total, at a run rate of just 2.33
Fresh from their unbeaten 124 partnership of last week, openers Fayaz Homyoon and DVD Westhuizen, set off in the same vein.
Scoring 43 from the first 10 overs, WGC were keeping to the plan of sensible cricket.
And Even though Homyoon played on and was bowled for 19, with Zaid Faleel was LBW attempting a sweep, there were, as yet, no alarms.
But when Clayton was bowled by a freak Shaun O’Brien delivery for 12, and Westhuizen hit the same bowler to Webster for 30, the wobble had started.
Marripati and Chalker both hit sixes but then both holed out to Webster and O’Donnell, O’Brien ripping out the WGC middle order.
It left them on 93-6 and struggling.
Although Alex Roberts and Emerton tried to rebuild and scored a patient and careful 36 off 116 balls, the WGC tail were not able to replicate their Totteridge counterparts.
Roberts was caught off O’Donnell for 18 off 71 balls, and Emerton was caught at slip for 20 off 68.
When O’Brien bowled Orchard for his fifth wicket, WGC were all out for 154 off 56 overs, 18 runs short.
