Rain thankfully stayed away for the first time in three weeks to allow a full day of play in the Herts Cricket League - and it turned out to be a good day for Potters Bar.

Their second and fourth teams both secured valuable successes, the twos beating Hoddesdon by nine wickets in Division Two B to move 68 points above relegation while the threes are also out of danger for the time being in Division 10 East thanks to a 56-run win over Mill Hill Village.

With the threes enjoying a bye week it was left to the firsts to try and complete the set.

They couldn't do that but they weren't far away and the draw with Radlett does keep them top of the Premiership, 17 points clear of their opponents and five ahead of Harpenden who drew with Hertford.

Put into bat at Cobden Hill, they lost James Scott early but they did responded.

James Seward managed 56, Reece Hussain 21, Rishi Patel 40 while Charlie Scott remained unbeaten on 66 as they got to 262-8 in their 60 overs.

The main partnership though came from Scott and skipper Luke Chapman, who scored a magnificent 55 not out in 54 deliveries as the pair adding 104 for the ninth wicket.

And it was a 10th wicket partnership that saved Radlett's blushes and prevented Bar from what would have been a major victory.

The home side were left on 163-9 in the 44th over but thanks to the efforts of Hayden Goulstone (104 not out from 130 balls) and Anthony Hill (seven from 33 deliveries), they got to their final total of 211-9 in 58 overs.

Jigar Mehta took 3-49 and Thilan Walallawita 3-60, while there were two wickets for Chapman.

Old Owens had beaten those two in the last two fixtures to reach a conclusion but they were unable to follow it up as they lost by seven wickets to Bishop's Stortford.

They batted first but were all out for 132, Jack Timms (51) and Chris Palmer (47) the only ones to shine with the bat.

And the home side rattled off the required runs inside 34 overs.

Fortunately for Owens, the only other side to lose in the Premiership was the side directly beneath them, Welwyn Garden City.

North Mymms moved further away from both of them though after a draw with West Herts.

They fielded first as the hosts got to 277-7, Jakob Bhula leading the bowling figures for Mymms with 4-68.

And an excellent display with the bat almost brought success.

Guganeshan Muralitharan (68) and Zaid Kureshi (39) put on 99 for the first wicket and there was a unbeaten stand of 109 between Neil Bamford (84*) and Armaan Randhawa (49*) that took them to the brink of victory.

They needed 12 from the final over but after four from the first two balls, they could only manage singles of the remaining deliveries to end up three short.

That leaves them 22 ahead of Old Owens who play WGC on Saturday.
