Hatfield Swimming Club will have plenty of representation at this year's British Summer Championships.

Held at Ponds Forge in Sheffield again, the event is by invitation only and is based on performances recorded in the designated qualifying window.

The 24 top-ranked swimmers at each distance and in each age group are then eligible, with the exception being in the longer 800m and 1500m races where 18 have been invited.

Hatfield will have nine swimmers competing in individual events and one relay squad, placing the club as one of the most successful in the county.

Daniel Belsey will be the busiest with qualification in all six individual freestyle races while Shannon Stott will be involved in both the 200m and 400m freestyle as well as the 100m and 200m butterfly.

Alexandra Nurney, Charlotte Williams and Caitlin Hartley will each swim over 50m, 100m and 200m only in different strokes - freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke respectively.

Oliver Baskerville will go in the 100m and 200m backstroke while James Woodward will do the same two distances but in the butterfly.

Ashley Ransome has the 50m and 100m breaststroke to look forward to with Ever Ives going in the 400m freestyle.

The relay squad will go in the boys' 14-16 4x200m freestyle event with the quartet made up of Daniel Williams, Belsey, Lucas Hartley and Samuel Jeffrey.

The whole team will be led by Hatfield's head coach, Daniel Fogg, a former Olympic swimmer and British champion.

A spokeswoman said: "The club are very proud of their swimmers' achievements and wish them all the best of luck at British Summer Champs."
