Potters Bar CC had their second annual golf day at Whitehill Golf Course in Ware last Friday.

Just shy of 70 golfers took to the fairways for a change of sport and pace on a wonderful day to raise funds, with the course in excellent condition.

There were numerous prizes on offer, such as nearest the pin, an overall team prize and overall winner, with top batter Steve Gale taking the longest drive honours.

The golf club and sponsors Lightning Electrical of Hatfield were thanked for their help, along with Martyn Taylor and Greg Hodge for their drive and enthusiasm in getting the event off the groud and running it so well.

"Last year was a successful day and we wanted the same, only slightly bigger," said Potters Bar CC sponsor Taylor.

"It's been a tough year off the field for everyone and we as a club are extremely grateful for the continued support for everyone who has given prizes, their time and enjoyed this wonderful day.

"As a club we are still trying to recover from Covid and the changes in the economy and working practices are tough for all in recreational sport.

"However we are a special club full of good people and we aim to grow that a little more and continue to make this community club successful and a nice place to visit and enjoy on a summer's day for many years to come."
