There were plenty of Garden City Runners taking the high road as the Edinburgh Marathon and Half Marathon brought some wonderful times.

A group from the club travelled north of the border and were blessed by glorious weather.

Aside from that there were PBs for Sophie Packman, Russell Morris and Caroline Griffin.

Morris clocked 2:58:41 for 200th position while Packman managed 3:54:26.

Griffin's best came in the half marathon, the clock stopping at 1:51:52.

Anna Lillie also ran the marathon in a time of 3:57:17 while Kath Evans got round in 5:25:04.

Michael Germany clocked 1:47:42 with Katherine Farrell coming not far behind in 1:49:28. Caroline O’Dwyer managed 2:38:30.

Packman said: "It started off cold but as soon as the race started the sun came out and it was very warm.

"It's a really beautiful run. It started at Potterrow, along the Royal Mile, to Portobello and then on to Musselborough along the sea front where there are really beautiful beaches."

Morris added: "Edinburgh was intended to be a fun marathon having properly raced Manchester a few weeks ago.

"Unfortunately, a very bad gout attack on the night before Manchester put pay to me being able to run and Edinburgh suddenly became the make-or-break sub-three hour attempt.

"But what a glorious place to explore and run in the sun, and my run couldn’t have gone more to plan.

"I was so happy to top an amazing weekend with a three-minute PB and more importantly my first ever sub-three marathon."
