Garden City Runners brought 2022 to an end with one more race with many opting to start 2023 in the same manner.

The finish of the old year came at the Buntingford 10k on December 30 with several from the club taking part on an undulating road route.

The first home for GCR was Chris Jones in 25th overall in a time of one hour one minute 31 seconds.

Not far behind was Neil Hume (1:06:59), Chris Harbron (1:23:34) and Nick Atkinson (1:37:55).

Anne Henson was the first GCR lady in a time of 1:33:25 while Kath Evans managed 1:57:14.

Parkruns are always a popular diversion during the festive period and this year was no different, with a number of milestones cropping up too.

On New Year's Day, Sharon Threlfall clocked up her 250th participation at an event, this one coming at Westmill where she ran with her twin sons.

 

Charlotte Jones reached the same figure on the same day but her proud moment came at Panshanger.

Among the notable results was a win for James Huish on Christmas Eve at the Valentines Parkrun in Ilford while Hannah Frank was the first lady at Panshanger.

Further afield, Barbara Kubis-Labiak was second lady at the Opole Parkrun in Poland.

Sweden was Peter Jasko's destination on New Year’s Eve, finishing sixth in Uppsala, while on the other side of the world, Louise Smith ran at Centennial Parkrun in Sydney.

Huish meanwhile managed another first place, this one at Southall.
