New Welwyn Garden City manager Marc Weatherstone has made his second signing - capturing exciting young striker Bailey Stevenson from Cockfosters.

The youngster, who turns 21 on Boxing Day, has been in sparkling form in the Spartan South Midlands League this season, scoring 10 times in 18 appearances for the Chalk Lane club.

His last game for Fosters came on Tuesday and he left with a brace in the 5-1 win over Shefford Town & Campton.

Prior to his move inside the M25, Stevenson was with City's neighbours Colney Heath where he came through the Magpies' junior ranks.

He will have fond memories of Herns Lane, having scored for the Heath in a 2-1 loss back in November 2021, one of his two goals for the senior side.

He is a second signing for Weatherstone, who took over at the Urbaser Stadium last week.

The first was vastly experienced defender and ex-teammate Sam Hatton and he has promised more newcomers to the WGC squad.

Stevenson is in line for his debut on his birthday when the Citizens host Hadley in a 3pm Boxing Day fixture.

One player who won't be involved though is Josh Hutchinson.

The star striker, who has bagged a combined 10 goals this season in league and FA Cup, has left the club.

A statement through Welwyn's Twitter account said: "Josh Hutchinson has advised the club that he wishes to leave us with immediate affect.

"Josh currently has not signed for another club and we wish Josh all the best.

"He has been great to have around the club."
