While the mud of cross-country is attracting more and more runners, some from Garden City Runners opted to stick with tarmac - and kept the travelling to a minimum too.
The Hertfordshire Half Marathon and 10k was held at Knebworth on Sunday with four GCRs opting for the latter.
Louise Beale finished in 58 minutes 58 seconds, one second behind team-mate Jo Grant.
Sharon Stephens was just outside the hour mark in 1:00:14 as was Peter Lapthorne in 1:00:41.
James Dunmore and Spencer White took on the half marathon over the usual undulating and hilly course in the lanes between Knebworth House and Whitwell.
A few niggling injuries held him back slightly but he still finished 86th overall in 1:37.34 with White clocking 1:40:40.
Those that did go for the cross-country fun were at Trent Park in Cockfosters for the latest Sunday Cross-country League event.
Among the sizeable group of GCRs was Juliet Vine who won the women’s race, backing up her success from round one at Cheshunt.
Russell Morris was on foreign shores and chopped a massive 55 minutes off his PB at the Frankfurt Marathon, finishing with a time of 3:11:27.
He said: "For an old boy like me, that’s a Boston qualifying time that I never thought I could achieve."
Among the parkrun action was Michael Scutt and Sharon Threlfall who were up in Edinburgh at the Holyrood event, finishing in 28:35 and 29:15.
Garden City Runners' home parkrun at Panshanger saw Simon Bostock 12th overall in 20:45 and Rebecca Barden second lady in 25:13.
