Welwyn Garden City were unable to break the unbeaten streak of St Albans thirds - as they fell to a second loss of the season.

They made the short trip to Oaklands College minus a few players but with Simon Walker and Matt O'Connell stepping in, along with Dan White making his debut.

And it was a battling performance from WGC in the 2-0 loss.

Both goals came in the first half and in quick succession, one from the baseline which was pulled back into the middle, and the second came from a short corner.

The remainder of the first period was more even although Dan Klinger needed to make a couple of saves.

WGC had a much better second half though, limiting St Albans opportunities and pushing further up the field, with Pete Mullens and James Fowler especially appearing up front more often.

There was lots of energy from Callum Burr too but despite Welwyn creating more chances in the second half, they were unable to get through.

The league takes a week off now with WGC next in action on October 29 at home to Stevenage.
