Welwyn Garden City youngster Harry Forde picked up two gold medals as part of the Lea Valley Karate Academy in the BIKO Open Karate Competition at Grundy Park.
Eight-year-old Harry won all nine of his fights on the day, taking top spot in the individual competition as well as helping teammates William Walker and William Huke, who train at Woodhall Community Centre, to the team gold.
There was more success for Woodhall fighters as Emily Beach and Abi Fisher took silver in the girls U9 team competition, whilst Mathew Beach captained his boys’ team to a bronze medal despite competing in a team of two rather than three.
For Woodhall students to be competing in the competition is a success in itself, as they must first be selected by the instructors of the club.
Woodhall instructor Daniel Hollister was delighted with his fighters’ efforts.
“I’m very proud of all my students, especially the ones that were competing for the first time, they all worked hard and tried their best and that’s all we ask for at our club.”
