They suffered a last minute line-up change after Rhys Wynne damaged his shoulder during warm up.

Mymms skipper Andy Lewis won the toss on what looked to be a flat track and asked Stortford to bat.

A fine start for the hosts saw themhold Stortford to three runs an over for the first 10 overs.

Jason Brycelend, called up at the last minute, and Arslan Shahid did a great job of controlling the run rate.

Lewis then turned to the leg spin of Prith Saravaiya and he soon got into his stride and produced probably his best bowling figures to date for the club.

His spell gave him excellent figures of 10 overs, 3-16.

Syed Kazmi produced figures of 10 overs 1-33, Hamza Qayyum eight overs 2-31 and Jamie Southgate seven overs 4-33.

All the bowlers performed well and restricted the visitors to 153 all out.

A great fielding performance supported the bowlers and set up the second half of the day.

Opening the bowling, Chad Barrett bowled good areas and he disrupted the solid start Mymms wanted when he dismissed Hertfordshire captain Nesan Jeyaratnam for eight with a beauty.

He quickly followed up by removing Kazmi for a duck and Qyyaum pulled him to a boundary fielder which left Mymms at 41-3.

Carter and Southgate started to re-build and took the score nicely along to 88, before Carter tried one expansive shot too far and was bowled by Simon Lindop for 12.

Lewis and Southgate batted sensibly to reduce the chase bit by bit, before a few fireworks towards the end to complete a relatively easy six-wicket victory with 17 overs spare.

Southgate finished on 52 not out to go with his four wickets and rightly took the man of the match performance. Lewis ended unbeaten on 40 when he hit the winning runs for four through mid on.

On Saturday Mymms travel to Letchworth GC hoping to continue the momentum and add to their first victory of the season.
