Mitchell Smith continued his unbeaten run to claim the WBO Intercontinental Super-Featherweight crown with a fifth round stoppage of Cristian Palma.
Smith, a former Welwyn Garden City Boxing Club fighter, was frustrated with the tricky Chilean’s tactics, but got through in the fifth to drop Palma who claimed he was hit when he was down on Saturday at Wembley Arena.
With the win Smith should break into the WBO top 10 rankings and adds the Intercontinental crown to his WBO European belt.
Smith told Boxnation: “I heard him wince, but didn’t seem him touch the floor so I carried on throwing.”
