North Mymms will travel to Radlett for their Saracens Hertfordshire Premier Division opener in good form after seeing off Tring Cricket Club with relative ease in Saturday’s friendly.
Tring started badly, with both openers out for ducks, before Andy Dixon steadied the ship with 33 before being bowled by Syed Kazmi.
The visitors plodded on but could not find their rhythm and with three more bowled for zero, they posted a paltry 121 all out from 33 overs.
After a strong bowling display, it was the turn of the batsmen to see Mymms over the line.
Wicket-keeper Hamza Qayyum hit 47 before being bowled as the hosts tore into Tring’s total.
There was a slight blip with Nesan Jeyaratnam walking back to the pavilion for just five runs.
However, an unbeaten partnership of 64 from Kazmi and new boy Jamie Southgate ensured an eight-wicket victory inside 21 overs.
Captain Andy Lewis said: “I’m excited about the season ahead, with the new players added to the squad I think we’ve a real chance of challenging at the top of the league this year.
“The Radlett clash will be a tough start, but one we are all looking forward to already and should give us an indication of how we are going to fare this year.”
