Hatfield Town manager Jason Beck has vowed to keep fighting as the beleaguered team look to changes their fortunes.

The Blue Boys are rock bottom of Spartan South Midlands League Division One and despite a slew of new players brought in by Beck since he joined the club at the end of November, the poor form has continued.

In the six games since Beck took charge Hatfield have just one draw to show for their efforts, with a 1-0 reverse at home to FC Broxbourne Borough the latest setback.

But the boss is adamant that the team can turn things around.

He said: “Trying to mix old players with new was always going to be a tough start but getting the club going in the right direction is a start and the rest will come.

“Saturday wasn’t as good as previous weeks but we have over 20 lads turning up to training every week, wanting to get a place in the squad, and we are pleased with the attitude.

“They all know the situation we are in, it’s no secret and they are ready to fight.”

Broxbourne arrived at Hatfield’s temporary home of London Colney’s Cotlandswick ground in fine form and a poor start from the Blue Boys didn’t help matters, going behind to a goal on 10 minutes.

But Hatfield came out fighting in the second half after strong words from a unhappy management team.

A change of formation also looked to change the balance of play and with the two wingers looking to get in behind the Broxbourne defence, they slowly started to show flashes of what they are capable of.

Matt Noot and Darren O’Brien played as the two up front in an attempt to get a valuable goal but it proved to be one of those days in front of goal for Town.

But Beck still has the upmost confidence in his team’s ability to rescue a bleak situation over the last 15 games.

He said: “Credit to Broxbourne, they played well and were very hard to break down but we just weren’t at the races today.

“Nobody stood out for me and I was quite disappointed to be honest.

“But there are 45 points still to play for and we will get through this as a unit and stick together.

“We’re trying to get things right here and keep everyone happy.

“It’s hard, I hate losing, everyone does, but we’ll keep fighting.”
