High winds may have been forecast for the rest of the country but for the intrepid sailors of Welwyn Garden City Sailing Club there were more challenging conditions.

Stanborough Lake was hit with light winds with a few gusts threatening to catch out the unwary.

Dave Lambert won in the Burgee category after two wins from the two races.

Behind him was an impressive performance by Alex Sheppey who took second overall after a second and third and a consistent set of results, two fourth places, gave Roger More third place on the day.

Charles Adams, commodore of the club, had recorded a second in the first race but was forced to retire early in the second outing after being tailed off in little or no wind.

Sheppey's performances once again secured him the Auld Wee Mug for the personal handicap race ahead of Lambert.

Newcomer Daniel George tied with Mike Caddy for third place.
