Youths set off a firework and verbally abused a woman in front of her young daughter in Welwyn Garden City.

Police were called to Woodhall shops in Cole Green Lane yesterday at about 7pm, following reports that six youths aged between 12 and 14 set off the firework, before being challenged by a woman.

The group then allegedly swore at her in front of her eight-year-old daughter.

A police spokeswoman urged anyone with information about the incident to contact police via 101, quoting crime reference number B1/17/1092.
