Young people from Welwyn Hatfield have completed a personal development programme.
Eleven job seekers aged 16 to 24, nine of which are from the borough, finished the Prince’s Trust team programme run by Hertfordshire County Council’s fire service.
The 12-week course helped participants develop their skills and experience, along with their confidence and motivation to find work or further education/training.
Zac Connell, 22, from Hatfield, said: “Before coming onto this course I was stuck in a bit of a rut and had no real direction or desire to do anything.
“With the help of the county council’s fire service and the Prince’s Trust I’ve gained a lot of team working and communication skills, and most importantly I’ve found my direction and drive to move on with my life.
“I’m now putting everything I’ve learned into practice and am pursuing a career in IT.”
Herts fire service area commander, Steve Holton, said: “These young people should be very proud of what they’ve achieved over the last 12 weeks and I congratulate them for their hard work and perseverance.”
