A YOUNG mum, who was pushing her baby in a buggy in a subway, was robbed by a thug in a morning attack.

The mugger took the 21-year-old’s purse after he approached her from behind, and was denied when he asked if she had any money, near Queensway House, in Hatfield.

The attacker, who ran off towards the town centre, then ditched the empty purse which he had grabbed from the hood of the pushchair.

The pink purse was later found discarded further down the subway.

The robbery happened at 8.10am, on Friday September 16.

PC Chris Poxson: “I would like to appeal to anyone who heard or saw any suspicious activity around the time of the incident to come forward.

“It may be that you saw a man running off with something in his hand, you saw him discard the purse or even saw the incident itself and can identify the offender.

“Alternatively, if you have any other information regarding this incident, I would also like to encourage you to get in touch.”

Anyone with information should ring PC Chris Poxson via the non-emergency number 101, citing crime reference number B2/11/3343. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
