X FACTOR finalist Amelia Lily – booted off the ITV talent show at the weekend – will turn on Welwyn Garden City’s Christmas lights.

The 16-year-old was axed by mentor, Destiny’s Child singer Kelly Rowland, on Sunday in a sensational twist to the start of this year’s live finals.

Instead of going further in the competition, the Middlesbrough teen will be coming to the Garden City instead.

The town’s big lights switch-on will take place on Thursday, November 24.

It will also feature singer-songwriter Samantha Grint – younger sister of Harry Potter star Rupert Grint and this year’s winner of Welwyn Hatfield’s 3 Music competition.

Conor Walker, a previous winner of the borough music contest, will also perform.

* The guests for the lights switch-on in Hatfield have also been confirmed.

Swindon-based hip hop/big beat group Beatbullyz and emerging singer-songwriter Chelcee Grimes, from Liverpool, will perform the honours on Saturday, November 26.
