X FACTOR star Austin Drage is up for a Brit award.

The 22-year-old singer, who went to the Ridgeway Studios Performing Arts School in Cuffley, sang on the X Factor finalists' charity record Hero.

And now the chart-topper is up for a Brit as one of the best singles of the year.

Hero, a cover of the Mariah Carey song, is up for the gong alongside the likes of Girls Aloud's The Promise, Coldplay's Viva La Vida, Duffy's Mercy, Leona Lewis' Better in Time and eventual winner of X Factor, Alexandra Burke, with her cover of Hallelujah.

The glittering awards ceremony is set to be hosted by Kylie Minogue alongside Gavin and Stacey stars Mathew Horne and James Corden.

This year's Brit Awards will be held at Earls Court on Wednesday, February 18.

Live performances on the night will include sets from Coldplay, Kings of Leon, Take That and U2.
