BUILDING work has started on WGC’s new £30m QE2 Hospital.

Diggers and construction workers have descended on the Howlands site to begin work on a temporary car park, which will be open in June.

Jacqui Bunce, from the East and North Hertfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “We’re pleased that work is underway and are working closely with the contractors to ensure that any disruption to the staff, patients and local residents is kept to a minimum.

“The plan is for the temporary car park to be up and running in the first week of June.”

Once open the main public car park will be fenced off, allowing work on the New QE2 Hospital building to start.

The New QE2 Hospital will include local A&E, outpatients, diagnostics and therapies departments.
