TWO women were injured in a collision in Hatfield this afternoon (Wednesday).

The air ambulance was scrambled after the women, both believed to be in their 20s, were hurt when their cars collided in Gypsy Moth Avenue, at around 1.30pm.

East of England Ambulance spokesman Gary Sanderson said: “We were alerted to Tank Hearleway on Gypsy Moth Lane at 1.44pm. Ambulance crews from Letchworth and St Albans attended the scene.

“Due to the nature of the call, the East Anglian Air Ambulance also attended the scene.

“Both women, who we believe to be in their 20s, sustained minor injuries and both were taken to the Lister Hospital in Stevenage on spinal boards as a precautionary measure.”

He added: “The ambulance crews worked closely with their colleagues from the fire service to treat, stabilise and immobilise them before they were taken to hospital.”

Police were also in attendance.
