Woman taken to hospital after car crashes into tree in Welwyn Garden City

A WOMAN was rushed to hospital with serious injuries after her car collided with a tree in Welwyn Garden City this morning (Monday).

Fire crews were called to the scene just before 5.45am where the 30-year-old was trapped and cutting equipment was used to free her.

The roof had to be removed and she was taken to Lister Hospital, in Stevenage.

The collision, which involved a Ford Fiesta, took place near to the A414 on Birchall Lane, in Cole Green.

The road had to be closed but was reopened by 7.30am.
