A WOMAN was headlocked, thrown to the ground and punched in the face during a violent robbery in Hatfield.

The victim was attacked at the junction of St Albans Road West and Selwyn Drive at around 8.20pm on Thursday, March 17.

She was approached from behind by a man who put her in a headlock, threw her to the ground and punched her in the face before stealing her handbag.

The woman sustained back injuries as a result of the attack.

The offender is described as white, of slim build, and 5ft 11 tall. He was wearing dark coloured clothing, including a top with the hood up.

Hertfordshire Constabulary are appealing for witnesses, and would like to speak to a man who was reading in a parked vehicle in St Albans Road West and may have seen the robbery.

PC Ilana Cohen: “This was a particularly violent stranger attack. We are appealing for witnesses who may have seen a man on foot in the area at the time to come forward or anyone who may know who the offender is.”
