A motorcyclist in her 20s was knocked unconscious following a hit-and-run in Welwyn Garden City this morning.

The police and ambulance service were called at 8.19am to Bridge Road following reports of the collision, which a police spokeswoman said involved the motorcyclist losing control while trying to avoid a car that had pulled onto The Campus roundabout from Parkway.

She added: “The motorcyclist came off her bike and was knocked unconscious for a short time. She also suffered a wrist injury and was taken to the Lister Hospital by ambulance.

“The driver of the black car failed to stop at the scene and it is unknown whether the motorist was aware that there had been a collision.”

PC Darren Turner said: “We are still working to establish the exact circumstances surrounding this collision and I am appealing for the driver of the black car, which may have been a Vauxhall, to get in touch with me.”

He asked anyone with information to contact him via non-emergency number 101, quoting ISR 126 of October 3.
