Woman dies after being struck by bus in Welwyn Garden City

A 60-YEAR-OLD woman has died after being struck by a bus outside the QE2 Hospital in Welwyn Garden City.
Police are currently investigating the accident which took place at around 6.40pm in Beehive Lane, no-one else was hurt in the collision.
Ambulance crews from Hertford and Welwyn Garden City attended the scene.
Ambulance service spokesman Gary Sanderson, who attended the scene, said: “First and foremost our thoughts our thoughts are firmly with the woman’s family at this tragic time.”
Gary added: “On arrival, the woman was in a critical condition. Paramedics worked closely alongside firefighters and medical staff who came across from the nearby hospital to treat her at the roadside before she was taken to the QE2 Hospital for further care.”
Road closures were put in place on Howlands at the junctions of Ascots Lane and Beehive Lane as a result of the collision.
Police investigating the incident are appealing for witnesses to contact them on the non-emergency number 101.
