A HATFIELD man in court alongside Amy Winehouse's husband, has admitted perverting the course of justice.

James Kennedy, 19, of The Holdings, appeared at Snaresbrook Crown Court today alongside four other men, including Blake Fielder-Civil.

The husband of the troubled singer is facing years behind bars after sensationally admitting attacking a barman and trial fixing.

The 25-year-old left barman 36-year-old barman James King seriously injured following the gang assault at the Macbeth pub, in London's trendy Hoxton.

Dressed in a grey suit and black shirt with sticking-up hair, he frequently giggled with co-defendant Michael Brown, 39, as he admitted charges on the eve of his trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court.

His wife, who last week made two appearances in the public gallery to support him this week, was not in court for the pleas.

Fielder-Civil, of Jeffrey's Place, Camden, admitted inflicting grievous bodily harm and perverting the course of justice and will be sentenced at a later date.

He pleaded guilty to the offences on Friday but his pleas could not be reported until today for legal reasons.

Brown, of Durand Close, Carshalton, Surrey, who had earlier pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice, also admitted inflicting grievous bodily harm on Mr King.

Anthony Kelly, 25, of Constable House, Chalk Farm, pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing.

King, of The White House, Risley Hall, Risley, Derbyshire, continues to deny conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

A jury was sworn in today to try King and they will return to court tomorrow to hear the prosecution case opened against him.
