The Khalsa Football Academy, in partnership with Spanish Primera Liga side Valencia CF are coming to Hatfield!

BUDDING footballers in Welwyn Hatfield are set to be given a chance to be coached by some of the world’s best.

Representatives from Valencia CF, six-time La Liga champions, are set to run a two-day coaching summer development camp at the Hertfordshire Sports Village in Hatfield, in partnership with the Khalsa Football Academy.

Khalsa was originally set up to encourage those from ethnic minorities to get involved with football at grassroots level, and it has since gone on to strike a relationship with the Spanish football club.

Former Valencia stars David Villa, now with Barcelona, and David Silva, now with Manchester City, have been advocates of the scheme which seeks to present a unified stance against racism.

Khalsa head coach Bal Singh is one of the most decorated Asian football coaches in the country, having worked his way through the ranks to Level Three standard.

He said: “We can try to stop racism with other methods but a lot of people just love their football and it is an excellent tool bringing different community groups together.

“Football continues to be the game of the people and remains to be the number one game in the world and this project is to harness the high profile of football to combat racism.”

The event at Hatfield is open to boys and girls from ages Under-7 through to Under-18s, and you will also get the opportunity to learn from one of Spanish football’s greats, Miguel Tendillo.

Tendillo is a former Valencia and Real Madrid centre-half, who also earned 27 caps playing for Spain, including appearances at the 1982 FIFA World Cup, held in his homeland.

There are also coaching days at Letchworth, Hitchin and Fearnhill - all of which are fully booked, so the Hatfield event offers a superb opportunity to develop football talent.

The days will run from 10am to 3pm on August 9 and 10, and will consist of a morning session followed by an afternoon session.

The price for receiving this top-class coaching is only 40 for both days.

On August 9 there is also an opportunity to watch Spanish International legend Miguel Tendillo play in a special International Futsal Club fixture between Valecia CF and the Khalsa Academy at the Herts Sports Village.

Bal is player coach of the Sporting KFA; a Letchworth based senior side that is a feeder club for Hitchin Town FC.

He completed his education at the AC Milan Youth Academy in Italy and Valencia CF training complex in Spain.

He is also an individual personal coach and by using the Futebol De Salao (FDS) methods helps players further develop their technical ability.
