FOR the second successive time, www.whtimes24.co.uk has been named website of the year at a prestigious awards ceremony.

We were crowned at yesterday's EDF Energy East of England Awards.

Judges said our website "continues to give a strong showing. It is a neat and tidy site but is still very busy, with lots to do".

The WHT has fully embraced the digital age, using the website to enhance the weekly print edition.

News breaks online 24/7, and added features have included a video advent clip, a photo slide show to mark Remembrance Day and cub reporter Simon Wesson dancing with shoppers to support Alesha Dixon on her way to Strictly success.

Web editor Sam Newby-Ricci said: "whtimes24.co.uk is testament to the fact that the online product can work with the print version.

"The website ensures the online reader gets their news as it happens with the additional bonus of having interactive elements such as video, slide shows and forums to really gauge what our readers want.

"This award recognizes the importance of the website and the great contributions made by the news team as well as the web desk.
