Foodies, wine lovers and a Bake-Off star were all out in force in Welwyn for the launch of a brand new food festival on Monday.
Great British Bake-Off star Ian Cumming, who was narrowly pipped to the post in 2015, was at Welwyn’s White Hart Hotel to welcome guests who enjoyed canapés and fizz as part of the launch.
The festival, which will take place on September 15-16, is the project of wine trader James Dowling, who said he wants to highlight Hertfordshire’s food culture and add to the summer calendar.
Restaurants and bars such as the White Hart Hotel, Judges in Northaw, the Tilbury in Datchworth, and Oishii by Elle in Hertford, will all showcase their finest gourmet delights at Abel Smith School in Hertford.
James said: “As part of my day job, I am fortunate to deal with many of the area’s restaurants and pubs, and I just felt that we needed to really shout about our amazing independent food and drink scene.
“Eat Your Hert Out is very much about celebrating Hertfordshire’s very best food and drink, and putting on a fantastic festival with high quality entertainment, music and masterclasses so that visitors of all ages enjoy a weekend to remember.”
Visitors to the festival can look forward to a weekend of food and fun.
During the day the event will be family-friendly, with junior baking master-classes from Ian Cumming, facepainting and children’s entertainment.
In the evening guests can enjoy live music whilst sampling food and a wide range of drinks.
Tickets are priced at £8 per adult (online) with the first 500 available at half price.
