Hatfield’s branch of Lloyd’s Bank is closing for a refurbishment that will give it a high-tech upgrade but reduced cash services.

Between October 12 to 31, the branch will close to replace over-the-counter services with tablets, cashpoints and deposit machines. Customers will be able to make mortgage applications by a new video appointment service, where available.

“Colleagues will remain on hand to help customers with their banking needs as they do today,” said a Lloyds spokesperson, confirming that there will be no job losses as a result of the changes.

However, customers will no longer be able to pay in coin or exchange coin, either as business or personal customers.

The spokesperson added: “Branches are a vital part of our strategy and we recognise the important role that the Lloyds Bank Hatfield branch plays in the local community.

“We are investing in our network to ensure it evolves to meet the changing needs of customers.

“We are updating the branch by introducing new technology, making everyday banking more convenient and giving the branch a new contemporary look.”

The nearest other branches of Lloyds are in Welwyn and St Albans.
