A Welwyn Garden City couple had two good reasons to party as they celebrated their wedding anniversary while fundraising for charity.

Julie and Dan Ritchie celebrated 17 years of marriage at a Valentine’s disco at Mill Green Golf Club, which was in aid of Welwyn Garden City charity Hertfordshire Action on Disability (HAD).

Julie, who works as an administrator for HAD’s driving centre, invited a group of workmates to join in the fun.

She said: “We thought it would be great to celebrate our anniversary with work colleagues and the evening was made extra special as it was raising money for HAD.”

In all, 70 revellers enjoyed a night of music, merriment and dancing as the event raised £500.

Organised by club captains Chris Myers and Anita Marques, it was the first of many the club will hold in aid of HAD this year.

Chris said: “We have a quiz on April 26, comedy night on May 11, ABBA night on June 8 and our charity golf day a week later.”
HAD provide a number of services for older and disabled people, including an equipment centre with a large array of mobility products, a driving centre providing lessons and assessments, and information and advice.
