A school and nursery have collected nearly 100 signatures calling for more yellow lines.

Concerns have been raised that there could be a “dreadful accident” if yellow lines are not extended along the busy road outside St Mary’s Primary School in London Road, Welwyn.

Headteacher Mary Westley said: “There’s a stretch were seven vehicles park on a kerb and you can’t see a child coming out from between them. The governors are seriously worried that there will be a dreadful accident.

“We want the yellow lines from the school entrance to the beginning of The Crescent.

The primary, together with nearby Tenterfield Nursery, has handed the petition in to county councillor Richard Smith, of Kindersley Close, Welwyn.
