A Community Information Day (CID) in Welwyn organised by the borough council was a “triumph”, according to the local authority.

The Community Safety Partnership (CSP) – which includes representatives from the fire service, police and council – held the event earlier this month to listen to residents’ safety concerns.

A council spokeswoman said the day was a triumph, having successfully engaged with more than 50 residents and businesses – handing out leaflets and discussing local issues.

The CID was supported by Welwyn West councillors Mandy Perkins and Tony Kingsbury.

Deputy council leader, Cllr Perkins, said: “We continue to hold these CIDs in different parts of the borough so that we can get a good idea of the localised, area-specific issues that each town and village is facing.

“Interacting with our residents is vital. We provide information, advice, and we listen to people’s concerns – which is such an important part of being a councillor.”

Councillor Kingsbury added: “We and other CSP partners will make sure that the feedback we received is shared and discussed amongst us, so that we can improve community safety in Welwyn Hatfield.”
