Adam Richardson, who keeps The White Horse, in Mill Lane, scooped the honour, which was awarded by Channel 4 TV show Let There Be Beer.

Thrilled Adam said: “A couple of my customers nominated me for the title which was endearing enough.

“To win was amazing, a real testament to all the hard work the entire team at The White Horse do.

“I couldn’t win it without them.”

On the pub’s Facebook page he added: “Thank you to everyone who voted for me, it really is amazing to know I have locals and friends who really believe in what we’re doing.

“Celebration time!”

As part of his prize Adam will now get to interview a mystery celebrity, and he joked: “Hopefully my first question won’t be ‘so, who are you then?’”
