Welwyn post office to close for refurbishment

The post office in Welwyn High Street will be closing on Saturday as it undergoes about three weeks of refurbishment.
The new-look post office will reopen on Monday, October 2, at 1pm.
It will be open an extra 18.5 hours a week.
The post office will be open seven days a week and there will no longer be lunchtime closing.
There will be a new low-screened counter intergrated into the retail counter and the new postmaster will be Mrs Delene Miller.
The branch will be open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday; 9am – 5.30pm; Thursday: 9am – 6pm; Sunday 10am – 2pm.
While the Welwyn post office undergoes refurbishment, customers can visit:
•Knebworth Post Office, St Martins Road, Knebworth, SG3 6EP
•Oaklands Post Office, 70 Great North Road, Welwyn, AL6 0TA
Peter Wilkinson, post office area manager, said: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.
“We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs.
“This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and will secure services for the future.”
