This week’s Pet of the Week is a ‘40mph couch potato’ who is set to become a therapy dog.

Meet seven-year-old Sandy, who has lived with his owner Chris Bishop in Welwyn Hatfield since 2015.

Chris described the greyhound as a “daily source of pleasure” who is known for his 40mph couch potato ways.

Sandy prefers to snooze away on the couch, while the world revolves around him but is sometimes in the mood for zoomies.

Zoomies are, as many dog owners will know, when a pooch all of a sudden gets up and starts sprinting around for no apparent reason.

Chris added: “We are grateful his sudden burst of energy is sometimes in our garden and not the lounge.”

Sandy has recently passed his temperament assessment and hopes to start visiting soon as a therapy dog, where others will get to share his gentle ways and lots of cuddles.
