THE Welwyn & Hatfield Times has found itself in the industry spotlight.
It is piloting a new editorial management system for its parent company Archant.
And the role was highlighted in the latest edition of the industry bible, UK Press Gazette.
A feature by Dietmar Schantin, director of worldwide research organisation Ifra, outlined the various processes that have been taking place within the WHT's newsroom to prepare staff for the new system.
Its aim is to have both the print and online side of the editorial processes fully integrated.
WHT editor Terry Mitchinson, who was featured in the article and who recently gave a presentation to an international newsroom conference about editorial integration, said: "We're certainly living in exciting and challenging times.
"We hope to have the new system up and running within the next month or so.
"By fully integrating online and print services Archant will be leading the way among media groups not only here in the UK, but internationally.
"There has been a lot of doom and gloom in the newsmedia industry in recent months, but I am convinced the future of our business and quality journalism in particular, is bright.
"How the Telegraph exposed the scandal of MPs' expenses in recent weeks is just one example of the positive contribution good reporters and reporting can make to our way of life.
"Long may it continue."
