The Welwyn Hatfield Times is proud to once again be recognising people who have made a difference to the community.

The Welwyn Hatfield Times Community Awards are run in association with the Howard Centre and sponsored by B&M Care Homes, HRJ Foreman Laws Solicitors and Oaklands College. The Welwyn Hatfield Times Community Awards are run in association with the Howard Centre and sponsored by B&M Care Homes, HRJ Foreman Laws Solicitors and Oaklands College.

Back by popular demand are the WHT Community Awards, which celebrate the best of community spirit, as well as personal achievements and inspirational stories.

It is the third year the WHT has run these awards and we are in no doubt that there will be plenty of worthy nominations flooding in.

This is an opportunity to shine a light on the amazing work being undertaken locally by individuals, schools, clubs, groups and charities.

Editor Nina Morgan said: “This is a lovely way of giving someone the recognition they deserve for going that extra mile.

“Perhaps a teacher has made a real difference to school life for your son or daughter, or maybe you have a neighbour who is always ready to help you in your time of need.

“We are also looking for people who devote time and energy to supporting charities and worthy causes.

“Without people who willingly give up their time, some of these cherished charities or community groups wouldn’t exist.”

There is a wide range of categories to choose from when looking to nominate your community star.

Categories include; School of the Year, Parent in a Million, Lifetime Achievement, Teacher of the Year, Charity Champions, Valiant Volunteer, Good Neighbour, Role Model of the Year, Service to the Community and Young Achiever.

The awards, in association with the Howard Centre and sponsored by HRJ Foreman Laws, Oaklands College and B&M Care Homes, has now been launched and the website is now live for entries.

It couldn’t be easier to nominate; simply visit the website and fill out the online form.

Remember to put as much information as you can as this will help the judges who will come together to assess all of the nominations.

The chosen finalists will be invited to join the WHT for an evening of celebration at Oaklands College on the WGC Campus on Friday, July 19.

Guests will be treated to a sparkling reception followed by a light buffet before the awards presentation, which will once again be hosted by Sky Formula One Commentator David Croft.
