Welwyn Hatfield mayor Lynne Sparks is set to host a multi-faith celebration this week.

It is being held at Hatfield’s Onslow St Audrey’s School on Sunday, October 8, starting at 3pm.

The aim is to bring together residents of all faiths to chat, sing and join together for prayers. Everybody is encouraged to bring food representative of their faith to share with each other.

Mayor Sparks said: “It’s a celebration of the different faiths we have in the borough to help people get a better understanding.

“For me, in a world where we have so many problems, it’s important we come together and show our support for each other. I hope you can join us.

“No matter what faith you are or if you have none, it will be a great community event, and I’d encourage you to come along. The feedback last time we did it was fantastic, from old and young.

“We are having singers from Oaklands Primary School in Welwyn and dancers from Onslow secondary school in Hatfield as well as representatives from all parts of the community.

“We are asking people to bring a favourite dish for people to share after the event and we will be doing a collection for the new night shelter.”
